The Prince of Dark World, known in Japanese as the "Prince of the Demon World" (魔界のプリンス), is the prince of Childam Village in Wonder Boy in Monster World.
In the original game, Shion saves the Prince after being possessed by Biomeka, turning him into the Almighty Demon King while he was in the Nightmare Castle.[1] After Shion defeats him and saves him from Biomeka's influence, he tells Shion about what happened. During the final battle at Biomeka's Lair, he uses all his power to break Biomeka's main cannon and to restore Shion's strength, allowing Shion to fight and defeat the monster.
Other versions[]
- The Prince is not present in the Master System port, nor is he present in The Dynastic Hero. In the latter, his role of helping the hero is instead filled in by Dyna's companions.
- In Turma da Mônica na Terra dos Monstros, the Prince was replaced by Cascão (Smudge).
Trivia[]
- The Prince of Dark World has additional lines in the Japanese version that were likely excluded in English due to lack of space in the text boxes. After his rescue, the prince hinted about a device that can be used to reach Biomeka, and while he is grateful and gave valuable info, he says that he has no intention of cooperation with Shion. When the prince appears to help Shion in the final battle, he says that it was against his principles to let him die when he owed him his life, and sacrifices himself, talking in a weakened way after his attack, and saying goodbye after healing the legendary hero, disappearing. Despite this, the Prince is seen alongside other characters in the ending.
- The Prince of Dark World is the son of King from the original Wonder Boy.[Citation needed]
- A portrait of the prince appears in the Haunted Manor of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom.
- The Prince Boots used in Monster Boy are the same that the Prince of Dark World wore.
